We talk a lot about our hopes and dreams, we think a lot about them and some of us can even achieve them in one lifetime.

Now we all know that I run a social media marketing agency - it's a one-woman job. I design, I post, I share, I create content for the companies that choose Twisted t designs.

But today I want to tell you where it all started and what I dream to achieve. And yes it's personal.

I started this company because I got tired, tired of being taken for granted, tired of relying on other people, tired of doing my best for other companies and not getting paid. Tired of designing adverts for a measly R100 and not being paid again. Tired of lousy excuses and false promises. Tired of long hours for nothing and overall tired of pulling on the short and curlies to make other people money. To see them picking the fruit of the work I put in.

Having your own business is hard work, its fun, its blood sweat, and tears. It's personal

Now I am in control - but that does that mean???

I can honestly say I do not want a multi-million Rand advertising agency, I do not want to market big brands and I also do not want to cut corners and do my customers in. I want to design. Design adverts, logos and social media graphics. I want to see a Twisted T designs post every time I open facebook, twitter, Instagram and soon youtube.

Brown: Brown, an earthy tone, is known as a comfort color, lending relaxation to customers.

Black: Black is another highly versatile color. It can be modern or traditional, exciting or relaxing. Used as a contrasting color, black most often adds drama to whatever mood you want to cast.

Working together to make the perfect advert

When making the perfect advert I like to keep Monroe’s motivated sequence in mind.

Alan Monroe a rhetorician has developed persuasive message appeals known as Monroe’s motivated sequence. Where he explains that there are certain factors one must look at to make an appealing advert, or have a good sale but is widely known in the art of persuasive communication

      Attention – the idea to arouse attention from a potential client, the market, the recipients and to obtain their good will. Your advert must grab their attention.

Need – You as a promoter, small business owner has to create a need for your product or service within the public, you have to show recipients that they are losing out by not using you. Or that they could be gaining more from choosing your product.

 Satisfaction  - you need to propose a new course of action within the advert that should       satisfy your recipients

   Visualization – look to the future, visualize the benefits of your service or product to your     clients.

Action – You need to urge your clients to take action, contact you as business owner for your product or service.

Reverse osmosis with Aqua Express

Sometimes you might ask yourself "What is Reverse osmosis?": 

(Definition)  Reverse osmosis (RO) is a water purification technology that uses a semipermeable membrane to remove ions, molecules and larger particles from drinking water. In reverse osmosis, an applied pressure is used to overcome osmotic pressure, a colligative property, that is driven by chemical potential differences of the solvent, a thermodynamic parameter. Reverse osmosis can remove many types of dissolved and suspended species from water, including bacteria, and is used in both industrial processes and the production of potable water. 

The result is that the solute is retained on the pressurized side of the membrane and the pure solvent is allowed to pass to the other side. To be "selective", this membrane should not allow large molecules or ions through the pores (holes) but should allow smaller components of the solution (such as solvent molecules) to pass freely.

In the normal osmosis process, the solvent naturally moves from an area of low solute concentration (high water potential), through a membrane, to an area of high solute concentration (low water potential). The driving force for the movement of the solvent is the reduction in the free energy of the system when the difference in solvent concentration on either side of a membrane is reduced, generating osmotic pressure due to the solvent moving into the more concentrated solution. Applying an external pressure to reverse the natural flow of pure solvent, thus, is reverse osmosis. The process is similar to other membrane technology applications. However, key differences are found between reverse osmosis and filtration. The predominant removal mechanism in membrane filtration is straining, or size exclusion, so the process can theoretically achieve perfect efficiency regardless of parameters such as the solution's pressure and concentration. Reverse osmosis also involves diffusion, making the process dependent on pressure, flow rate, and other conditions.

Reverse osmosis is most commonly known for its use in drinking water purification from seawater, removing the salt and other effluent materials from the water molecules.

7 Reasons why your municipalty account seems high

Factors why your water or electricity account can be over the normal limit.

There are numerous aspects that impact on the on-site consumption of a property. These are, inter alia, seasonal changes (ie wet and dry periods), water used for gardening, internal leaks, defective meter, etc. It is therefore difficult for the municipality to pinpoint the reasons for these fluctuations which are related to the internal use or water loss.

You should establish whether there is an internal leak on the property by carrying out the following test procedure:

Test procedure:
1. Close all the internal taps on the property, both in and outdoors.

2. Isolate your geyser if possible.

3. Check the water meter to see if the counter digits (register) are moving.

4. If the digits are moving to check the toilet cistern, taps, exposed pipework and wet areas on walls with pipework, to see if there are any visible leaks.

5. If there are no visible leaks and the digits are still moving then there is an underground leak.

6. If you have problems locating the leak, contact a professional plumber/specialist for assistance.

7. If a leak does exist, have it repaired as soon as possible.

If there should have been an internal leak on the property it must be noted that an owner of a property is, in terms of the City’s Water Supply By-Laws, responsible for the maintenance of the internal water reticulation on a property.
